Winning Photo: "Fall Farm Stand"

Fall in New England happens to be my favorite season of the year with its vibrant colors and displays. The typical fall farm stand appears all over New England, and beyond, and is representative of the heritage we all share. The photo, with its display of American flags seems to say “Americana”.

 

Accompanying Photo:  "New England Town Center"

The town of Rindge, New Hampshire with its white steepled Meeting House, Town Green and the historic cemetery exemplifies the traditional New England town center, a development pattern repeated over the entire region.

 

Mike O'Leary 's Biography:

Photography has always been my lifelong interest although never formally trained and it has never been part of my employment. I have always been interested in capturing the “right moment” or capturing the unique view of a common subject so as to present the subject in a view or in a light that has never been seen before. Capturing Americana was a thoroughly interesting experience. It brought to life many discussions among family and friends as to what was Americana and how it can be captured in a single photo. I resorted to Facebook to gather my family and friends’ thoughts on my variety of Americana pictures. I don’t know if I captured the essence of Americana, but it was worth the effort.
