Winning Photo: "Bird's Eye View of the Grand Canyon"

The Grand Canyon has several bird species but one of the more common is the raven. This raven is enjoying the view or perhaps planning the next raid of someone’s backpack which has been known to happen!

Photo was taken at dusk on the South Rim. At the bottom is the muddy Colorado River.

 

Helen McAllister-Ross 's Biography:

Helen is from Stamford, CT, and received her degree in Community Psychology from the University of New Haven. She has lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Virginia, California and currently resides in the great state of Texas. Believing that summers were meant to travel and to experience something new, Helen and family traveled to the Grand Canyon in July 2009 where these photos were taken. Travel means photography, a pastime of hers for over 35 years. Photography means to capture a moment in time and to cherish the memory.
